Our sustainability solution
Reed straws offer a natural alternative to plastic and paper. Crafted exclusively from common reed (Phragmites australis), they are 100% pure, with no chemicals or additives. Common reed is a tall wetland grass found worldwide, reaching heights of up to 6 metres.
Why reed?
Common reed is a fast-growing, one-year plant that can expand up to 5 metres annually. Regular harvesting prevents wetland overgrowth. Estonia alone has over 27,000 hectares of reed; maximum production requires just 200 hectares a year, and it regenerates annually.

The birth of automation
Hands alone were never going to be enough for large-scale production, and no machine existed for reed straws. A team was assembled to develop the world's first fully automatic reed straw production line.

A four-year journey
After four years of challenges and triumphs, the automated reed straw machine is in full operation. The difficulty lies in the raw material: no two reed plants are alike in shape, diameter or colour.
